I S A activity, Women Status- Quo

Evergreen Senior Secondary School, Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi, has initiated the process to install Global dimension to its education system by registering for British Council International School award (IAS). The students are involved in the international framework academically as well as with respect to extra curricular activities. One of them being Women Status- Quo. The students of class 9 were part of a special assembly that showed women and the condition in a male dominated society. The main aim of the assembly was to bring to the fore the issues related to women and their present state in our society. The students knew how to bring up such a sensitive issue in front of the audiences.
India is the same Nation that has witnessed the existence of Goddesses like Durga and Kali who represent power and strength and at the same time Saraswati who is knowledge herself. India has also given birth to women like Gargi and Maitreyi but then what happened to the society in the present age? Why is it that women are unsafe in India? This is a really important question that needs to be answered.
The students of class 9th A and B took up some really serious serious issues related to domestic violence, female foeticide, rape and molestation and right to education of the girl child. They presented a skit to show how mothers of the family are ill treated by their husbands and children only because they stay at home to fulfill the needs of their family. They forget that if the back bone breaks it is very difficult to stand. The final realisation of importance of mother is a redemptive act by the family members in the skit.
The students of class 9th also presented dance to pay respect to women without whom  life will be incomplete. One of the students of class 9th recited a poetry in Hindi, dedicated to women and there  power. Towards the end of the Assembly a nukkad natak was staged to point out the grave issues related to women and their condition which remains an issue to sadden the society in which we live.
The Assembly was thus thought provoking and an eye opener for all who were present there. The students also took pledge to respect every woman and acknowledge the sacrifices done by them.
